WHO IRIS Repository

Rebuilt the World Health Organization’s institutional repository from the ground up — 1M+ records, DSpace platform, and a metadata schema designed for global public-health discoverability.

The WHO IRIS project was one of the largest institutional repository builds I’ve delivered. The scope covered platform selection, metadata schema design, a staged migration of over one million records, and the editorial training programme that made adoption stick across WHO’s Geneva and regional office teams.

Platform: DSpace 7, hosted on WHO infrastructure. Schema aligned to Dublin Core + custom WHO taxonomies for health topics, regions, and document types. All records migrated with full provenance tracking and search indexing verified against the legacy system.

Work on something like this?
